Timeline

To create a competitive application, 3+4 students should follow the recommended 3-year timeline. Because 3+4 applicants will be competing against traditional applicants with MCAT scores, we strongly recommend that 3+4 students enroll in and complete the math and science course sequence outlined in the timeline.

3+4 applicants will apply to the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (TCOM) during the summer following their sophomore year. If admitted, they will begin medical school after their third year at UNT. Upon successful completion of their first year at TCOM, students will be eligible to receive a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from UNT. The following bachelor's degree requirements can be satisfied by TCOM's first year curriculum:

  • Advanced Physiology with Lab (4 credit hours)
  • Advanced Biology Electives (7 credit hours)
  • General 36 Advanced Hour Requirement
  • The College of Science's Breadth Requirement
  • Minimum 120 Hour Requirement

Note: Receiving an interview and/or admission to TCOM through the 3+4 pathway is not guaranteed. If 3+4 students are not admitted to TCOM, they can apply to other medical schools during the next application, which will require an MCAT score.
