JAMP is a Texas state-wide program that helps students, from socio-economically disadvantaged
backgrounds, become physicians. Students who are selected to become JAMP Scholars
and maintain all eligibility requirements will be guaranteed admission to a Texas
medical school.

Enroll in an undergraduate school no later than the first fall semester following
graduation from high school or a home-schooled program
Be enrolled full-time at a JAMP participating university at the time of application
Complete a minimum of 27 undergraduate credit hours
C or Better in General Chemistry I & II
Earn a 3.25 Cumulative GPA or higher (3.40 for Entry Year 2027)
Earn a 3.25 Math/Science GPA or higher
Provide documentation and history as an economically disadvantaged applicant*
SAT or ACT is no longer required to apply to JAMP
Be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident and a Texas Resident
Must be 18 years of age, or older, at the time of entry into the program
*"Economically disadvantaged" is finacial eligibility for the Pell grant or a FAFSA
Student Aid Index (SAI) of -1500 to 7000
Students will usually apply to JAMP in the Fall semester of their second year in college.
During their first year, applicants must earn 27 credit hours, which must include
General Chemistry I & II with a C or better.
Example: A UNT student graduates from high school in Summer 2024 and enters UNT in
the Fall of 2024. This student will take 27 credit hours during their freshmen year,
including General Chemistry I & II, and apply to JAMP by early October 2025 during
their sophomore year.
Under Early Admission, students apply to JAMP in the Fall semester of their first
year in college, as long as they earned 27 college credit hours during their senior
year of high school, which must include General Chemistry I & II with a C or better.
Only 3 of the 27 credit hours can be earned through AP credit.
Example: A UNT student graduates from high school in Summer 2025 and enters UNT in
the Fall of 2025. The student earned 27 dual credit hours in their senior year of
high school, which included General Chemistry I & II. This student is eligible to
apply for admission to JAMP by early October 2025.
