Clarification on Nursing

The professions listed on the previous page usually require or strongly recommend a bachelor's degree first before entering professional school training. At UNT, we offer degrees and undergraduate courses that will prepare students for such career paths. For a career in nursing, professional school training is not required; individuals can become a registered nurse (RN) with an associate's or bachelor's degree. Though UNT's Denton and Frisco campuses do not offer a bachelor's degree in nursing, we do offer courses that could transfer to other institutions and fulfill prerequisite requirements. However, if your goal is to become a nurse, it is strongly recommend that you attend an institution that offers a nursing degree from the very beginning.
